Right by prospect park, this spot is a must try! They do take out only but they do have a small outdoor dining area to eat if that's what you'll like. First time coming here and I decided to get the Bulgogi Fatboy which was a korean pancake with bulgogi as the stuffing wrapped together with radish, rice, lettuce and sauce. Our chef absolutely PACKED it, that he could barely even wrap it and had to double wrap. And needless to say that it was a delicious meal! I was basically stuffed eating just half of the wrap. 100% a must try if in the area and myself will definitely be coming back to try something else!
Randomly popped in and had the chicken shawarma. 10/10. Really incredible and fresh. Some of the best I've ever had.
Delicious Korean Syrian fusion food. Very big portions that will fill you. I always share an entree with my boyfriend and we are FULL. Love the sauces they give as well. Great service but typically at least 20+ minutes wait so order ahead on their site! Only outdoor dining or takeout available.
EAT HERE!! So much of the fusion food in NYC are just less-than-great versions of whatever cuisines they're fusing together, but not SYKO! This is maybe one of my top spots in Brooklyn at the moment. I've been wanting to try Syko for months now, but I live across the park making it difficult to get to transit wise. IT WAS SO GOOD! We got the tea (it's free and delicious and amazing), the falafel pizza, and kibbeh. Every single bite was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. The owners are so sweet, and I really enjoyed speaking with them and learning more about how they're growing the restaurant. I will be back again, and again, and again (I ate here yesterday & currently plotting if I should go back again today).
Small, mainly takeout spot serving up some big flavors. Came here on a weekday after a run with a friend. One of the owners was nice enough to walk us through the menu, and explanied the Syko stands for SYrian and KOrean. Given that, we opted to get something fusion, as well as one of the Korean dishes. Even though the bulgogi fatboy was labelled as Korean, it definitely is a Korean American fusion. It's 2.5 lbs of a hulking sandwich, with rice and bulgogi encased in a scallion pancake. The fusion dish we tried was the falafel pizza, which was a crispy scallion pancake as the base, topped with homemade labneh, cucumber kimchi, and homemade falafel. While we thought the fatboy was big, when we weighed the pizza we realized it came out to over 3 lbs! Both of the dishes were delicious and full of flavor, although my friend and I both agreed we gave the pizza a slight edge. The prices are a little on the higher side, especially for a takeout place, but it felt pretty fair given the huge portions. One dish alone could easily feed two. Definitely stop by here if you're craving either Korean or Syrian, or just looking for something new. I can see this being a great spot in the summer as well, so you can takeout to Prospect Park.
After spending a few months wondering when I was going to next be in the area, we finally ordered delivery from Syko for dinner on a recent rainy evening. I could have easily gone overboard with the food but limited us to two dishes: the Falafel Pizza and the Crispy Chicken Kimbap. The pizza was definitely the stand out for me. The fusion of flavors was surprising but delicious. I would have preferred just a bit less labneh (saying this as a labneh super fan), only because the weight of the toppings did impact the pizza's integrity. That said, I just grabbed a fork and continued on. As for the Crispy Chicken Kimbap, this was also very good but not incredibly crispy - likely my own fault since I do live a few neighborhoods over. I'd try it again if I'm able to pick the food up on my own. I also can't wait to try the Spam Sandwich next time I order. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, Syko is definitely worth a visit.
My friend brought takeout from Syko, and it was quite a memorable and tasty meal. The falafel pizza was unlike anything I've had before. Very dense and messy. You're going to need to use a fork. Pieces of toppings were quite large, so it was clumsy at times. I dig the crust! More traditional, the shawarma hummus was very good and flavorful. I wish it had come with pita, though. The fatteh cauliflower is big! Brown pieces and lots of chickpeas. Also very good. Everyone loved the fried crispy chicken kimbap. Great textures and flavor. Chicken bulgogi, served in lettuce cups with rice, was surprisingly hearty. I'd eat all my vegetables this way. We topped it off with Syrian shrimp. Very good though not as mind blowing. Definitely check this spot out!
It is a tiny place. I keep coming back for bulgogi kimbap. It is best to take takeout because it is not much place to eat inside. Although during the summer I think they have some tables outside. I did not try anything else from there. But a lot of people suggest a different things things to try. So maybe next time
Amazing food & love the combination (half Syrian and half Korean menu). This place is no nonsense and does not have seating, grab it to go or get it delivered. Service is quick and efficient and there are a good variety of beverages available for purchase. Sujok sandwich (ordered without tomato due to husband's intolerance - keep it in there and order as-is): really good & loved the combination of pickles and French fries in there. Cheese roll: we popped these in the oven for a bit of a reheat after transit and they were delicious - crunchy on the outside and gooey cheese on the inside. Bulgogi kimbap was solid, we particularly love the pickled veg (radish - you can buy sides of pickled radish which are a great snack). Syrian nachos (weekend item): so good, pita chip base. Hummus, lamb, red onion, tomatoes, parsley, pickles. Labneh: comes with pita, very good. Spam sandwich: my husband loved this, a good combo of egg, spam, kimchi, and rice in a seaweed wrap.
